SIX FOOT FONT
/// artists working together to make a six foot tall alphabet /// SUMMER OF 2009
Hello. I'm organizing an event where artists of every discipline will work together to
create an alphabet of letters that will be 6 feet tall. Currently I'm forming a committee
to help with organizing this amazing artistic feat, and am in need of assistance! If you
are interested in being on the committee, or would like to donate materials or help with
the creation of the letters, please get in touch! My email address is listed below.
The event will be held in Minneapolis, MN. We are currently searching for gallery
or warehouse space for the creation and storage of the letters. This is an open call
for artists, and it is an event for the community! Please get involved and help out!
The final goal for this project is to take pictures of each letter and make it a
digital font file for purchase on the internet. Proceeds will go to community
organizations for the arts.
Please check back often for news and updates.
Feel free to email me for more information!

POSSIBLE IDEAS FOR CREATION OF LETTERS, A TOPIC FOR DISCUSSION
One thing I am still not clear on is how to create the letters! I want them to be big,
obviously, but should they be sculptural? Should they be flat, and fixed to the wall?
I'm also trying to figure out if specific artists and companies should be contacted to
work on the letters, or if it should be one large, group event where everyone works
together. They have their benefits. If specific artists make a letter, then each
piece will be unique, and companies will know which letter their materials helped make.
However, if everyone works together, it will be much more community oriented, and all
letters will be part of the series and feel more cohesive.
I like the idea of a community event, but I also like how each letter could be its one
unique art piece.
What do you think?
